Fungal Balls

This is my test run of a new Sony camera that I got to see if I could capture higher quality photos for the site (instead of just using the phone)!

So far, I’m not as impressed as I thought I would be, although it could be largely due to my not knowing how to bring out the full potential. So I’ll be trying a few things out here and there before I decide whether or not to keep it.

Meanwhile, what do we have here? Scopulariopsis spp.! One of my favorite fungi. It’s an opportunistic pathogen, and here we have isolated it from some feet scrapings. Unfortunately, I don’t know any more clinical history than that, so let your imagination run wild!

The conidia on this organism are echinulate. Spikey!
